By far our best vacation ever!

Hey David,
Just wanted to thank you again for letting us stay at your villa. It was beyond incredible and by far our best vacation ever. The snorkeling at Anse Chastanet was amazing. We snorkeled all but one day there. We liked the Turtle Cove area the best. We had a snorkel tour one day that brought us to Sugar Beach marine reserve and Superman's Flight (at base of Pitons) -- both of those spots were both great but we liked Turtle Cove the best. We also ended up at Anse Mamin beach all the time. Honestly, it felt like our private beach every day. We picked a palm tree to camp under and just relaxed/swam for hours. The hike up the Pitons was amazing and our guide was this super cool rastafarian 60-year old who lived at base of mountain. Fortunately we were the first ones up before the heat and the views were definitely worth the effort! I can't believe you hiked up the other one as well -- that definitely looks way more technical. Another day we did the mud bath, mineral pools and waterfall before lunch at Feddo's. The mud bath was definitely a really cool experience. Alvin and Verlinda were great. I talked with Alvin quite a bit...really nice guy and passionate about the gardens (and we both like the same soccer team, haha). Honestly, I think the only colorful flowers on the whole hillside are at your villa! The hummingbirds are everywhere...I grabbed some cool slo-mo video of one getting some food. You definitely have a gem with the Villa! I feel very fortunate to have been able to take my family there and thank you for giving us the opportunity. The trip will definitely be a lifetime memory!

PS I also liked the Piton Lager! Wish that they sold it in the US!

We had an absolutely incredible stay!

The villa has been thoughtfully constructed to blend in with the nature that surrounds it. The views are stunning and the villa is well-appointed. We were also grateful for the extremely helpful staff, including Verlinda, Alvin, Benton, and Maura (do yourself a favor and book a massage with her).

Wonderful place to stay!

The views are the most beautiful ever. The staff are all very nice and helpful with whatever questions or help you may need arranging stuff during the stay (transportation, covid testing, groceries, etc). The location is walking distance (downhill) -15/20 min to a very quiet and peaceful and gorgeous beach/bar with food and drinks. The walk back up the hill is not easy tho so gettin transportation is better choice. Highly recommend staying at this place if you can!

The views of the Pitons alone made every minute spent at La Bagatelle absolutely magical!

The villa is beautifully maintained and comes well equipped with everything from movies, board games, and beach gear to a fully stocked kitchen and grill for daily cooking needs. We walked to Anse Chastanet and Anse Mamin beaches (~15 min) and a resort restaurant from the villa - be ready for a super steep climb up and down the hill! Anything further you’ll want to arrange via a driver (available through villa) or drive with your rental car. The staff also helped us arrange a visit to the local clinic for pre-departure Covid tests. Thanks David, Alvin, Verlinda, and Benton for making our vacation so unforgettable!

La bagatelle was simply breathtaking

The pictures do not do it justice. If you have the opportunity, try to visit because it’s worth it.

Our family stay at LaBagatelle was magical from the moment we walked into the Villa

As described in every review the villa is spacious, immaculate, filled with thoughtful touches like games, books, and floral arrangements! The view is stunning high on the hillside which also means that the open air concept works as there are no bugs! Be sure to admire Alvin's amazing "botanical gardens" - he gave us a tour of the plants and trees on the property and kindly and patiently advised us throughout the week with activity suggestions. Verlinda kept the villa spotless and cooked wonderful meals for us several times. The location is perfect for exploring the amazing natural sites in the area- our favorites were the hike up Gros Piton, snorkeling and "beaching" at Anse Mamin and exploring the gorgeous coast via boat! Be sure to eat roti at one of the beachside spots at Jade Mountain and go to Purity Bakery in Soufriere. We opted for sunset cocktails and dinner at the villa as the roads are a bit hairy for nighttime driving but that meant we enjoyed the villa all the more! Thank you so much for sharing your paradise

Just got back from our stay in La Bagatelle....

I am not sure I know that many adjectives to describe this amazing place. We couldn't take our eyes of the Pitons and then came the sunset...just breathtaking!!!! Everything is set up for maximum relaxation. Comfortable beds, couches, pool and of course people who were taking care of us. Big thanks to Verlinda and Alvin, special thanks to Benton who took us everywhere we wanted to go, I think it was a great idea not to rent a car. We mostly talked to Sam the manager of the villa and he was always responsive and flexible and did his best to arrange everything we needed. Thanks David for sharing your paradise with us. We fell in love with the island and made unforgettable memories. Some tips: more relaxing without driving yourself; bring more cash, as we had some issues with atm machines; have dinner at Calle Blanc villa, just walk down the hill; Anse Mamin beach was our favorite and fish burgers there are outstanding. A lot of attractions near by.

This is an amazing villa

I have stayed in 5-star plus resorts all over the world. This Villa and its staff were among the best. Great value. Great space, views to die for. Hummingbirds around you. We already booked for December of 2020 (that says a lot)

This is where to stay for a Caribbean fantasy holiday

The views from the villa are spectacular, the villa is open, breezy, huge and private, it’s even better than the photos. The staff were all fantastic and very professional and helpful. The walk down to the beach is interesting and you can get the Anse Chastanet resort staff to call a driver for the lift back up. And there are heaps of hummingbirds to watch from the pool. Completely exceeded our expectations!

Morning breakfasts overlooking incredible views

From the moment we opened the door, the beauty and brilliance filled the air. While the views were spectacular it was leaving the home's hospitality that brought tears to all our eyes. Thank you for helping us plan trips into town!!! We really enjoyed zip lining, the mud bath visit, the Gros Piton hike, the beach walks, and morning breakfasts overlooking the incredible views...we hope to go back this summer.

La Bagatelle was the perfect “home away from home

There are many adventures to enjoy close by. A swim in the pool and a rum drink at the end of a fun day added the perfect touch of relaxation. We knew we would want dinner at the house on two of the nights. The woman who helps with the daily cleaning will also prepare a lovely St Lucian dinner for you if you request the day before. We made our own breakfast and she would clean up the kitchen when she came in around 9, but you could ask her to prepare breakfast as well.
We also got very good information and help from the house manager who arranged for a car and dinner reservations at Ladera Resort. She also arranged for a water taxi from downtown Soufriere to Sugar Beach and rented lounge chairs(this also gives you pool privileges). We had an easy drive to hike the Gros Piton. We also did a birding tour in the rain forest that was arranged through the house manager.
The beaches that are close enough to walk to are Anse Chastenet and Anse Mamin. We drove down to free parking at the Anse Chastenet resort and walked through to the Anse Mamin beach. Excellent restaurant right on the beach for lunch. There are beach chairs and nice snorkel equipment at La Bagatelle for you to use. Or you can rent loungers and an umbrella at the beaches.
Even though we rented a car and did a lot of running around , I could easily see spending the days right there at the beautiful house. There is sooo much space. All open air felt wonderful and the view is extraordinary. The photos of the Pitons barely do justice to the real experience. I saw photos of the bathrooms but was still pleasantly surprised at how enormous they were. The house was well maintained and clean. I hope we get to visit this house again !

La Bagatelle Breathtaking, Stunning, Enchanting, Magical, Storybook!

Simply said, if you don’t want to read any further in this review just please read this paragraph: La Bagatelle is an enchanting, breathtaking, stunning, magical storybook place to stay. We already booked a trip back. Gift yourself a visit here!!!
La Bagatelle is a stunning, open air villa that overlooks the sea with an incredible storybook view of the Pitons. La Bagatelle is breathtaking. You will see for yourself as you open the front door to the main entrance. Standing on the top step taking in the view is like being on top of the world.
Ascending down to the entrance to La Bagatelle you will feel as if something magical is about to happen. Once you enter La Bagatelle villa you will think and feel as if you are in paradise. The view from both the upper, as well as lower balcony, is the best on the island- we would just stand there taking it all in and never got tired of it!! Stunning! Breathtaking! Enchanting! Magical! Storybook!
As mentioned, La Bagatelle is an open air villa – the flooring and woodwork is beautiful!!! Upstairs there is a full kitchen, pool/grill/deck area, dining table, sitting/living room area, hammock and a four post day bed all with the beautiful, stunning view. There are also two full bathrooms on this level. There is a short elegant walk downstairs with a view of the gardens outside the open wrought iron gate. Downstairs, the grey washed woodwork is just as beautiful!
There are two large bedrooms with full bathrooms. One bedroom has both a queen size and king size bed with full bath (with a safe in the closet) and the other has a king size bed with a full bath. For you comfort and comfortable and convenience, both both bedrooms have dressers, mirrors, closets and bedside tables. There is a small table with chairs outside on the deck for quiet reading, writing and/or visiting with one another over coffee or a great card game.
Valinda did a wonderful job maintaining the villa, shopping and/or preparing meals (at our request), Alvin kept the pool, tennis court and property clean and inviting, and Clavie (and his crew) provided safe friendly transportation for us to/from the airport as well as both our planned and last minute jaunts to various adventures outside of the Villa. Simply just “staying” at the Villa for your vacation is tempting due to its beauty and breathtaking views. However, after learning more about our immediate surroundings we decided to venture out in order to truly experience St Lucia for ourselves. If you are an adventurous walker/hiker and like a challenge, then take a short walk (or if you prefer call for Clavie to drive you) to the town Soufriere where there are lots of cool places to check out including a great family run coffee shop and local markets with fresh harvest/catch of the day. You can also venture to the Anse Chastanet...

Dream villa, incredible view, relaxing holiday…

Our stay at the villa La Bagatelle was incredible and absolutely honeymoon-worthy! The villa was exactly as described and even better than we imagined in our pre-holiday dreams. The view is breathtaking, the best on the island, right there from the balcony – we just never tired of it! The villa is very well taken care of, cosy but stylish, the service is great (housekeeping, gardening and cooking is included – we opted for that every other day), the pool is just perfect for a refreshing dip when it gets too hot and the hammock and day bed are the best reading spots in the world. There are no windows, but it’s always warm and comfy and there are shutters in the bedrooms. Birds and frogs and crickets will sing you to sleep every night – bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

Comfortable inviting relaxing and luxurious

My wife and I recently visited the island for a family wedding and stayed at the La Bagatelle rather than at a major resort. It was the best decision we made on the trip. The location is close to many areas of interest and some excellent beaches. The staff prepared delicious meals and the accommodations were spacious comfortable and a joy to come back to. Having the privacy to enjoy the spectacular view and relax with the option of using the pool is exactly what you dream of on a vacation.
Loved St Lucia, La Bagatelle!

Wonderful Experience

We loved the villa and everything about it – amenities, furnishings, artwork, staff, location, view – EVERYTHING! Along the way, we discovered a taxi company and several drivers whom we enjoyed using so immensely, I have to recommend considering them as drivers for the villa. Quaint Spacious Villa with the best view of the Pitons

This gorgeous villa was one of the few rentals with such a spectacular view of the Pitons and ocean that was awe inspiring. It was nearby to some of the top resorts on the island. We enjoyed the open concept with all the sights and sounds of nature especially at night while falling asleep. The bedrooms were clean, comfortable and spacious as well as the main living area. Even without air conditioning we felt comfortable. The pool was conveniently located on the upper level with a restroom nearby. The staff was most accommodating and did a wonderful job in caring for our needs. We had a most relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Beautiful and wonderfully decorated.

It has probably the most beautiful view on the island.
We were able to have a very quiet and private stay. The house has a plantation charm with all the modern conveniences you need. The house feels part of the island so you didn’t feel the need to leave.

Poem for the love of LaBagatelle

Acclimatised and pampered by a week at East Winds Inn We drove south on Sunday after lunch excited to begin Our second week with Shuttleworths who’d invited us to stay In a place where they had been before… and here I have to say ….
That I’d been told that it was wonderful, but really nothing could Have prepared me for the treats in store or warned me that I would Be so captivated by it all – and captured by the spell Of the extraordinary magic of – Villa La Bagatelle.
So assured in its’ surroundings – perching high above the sea Two platforms – one above the other – which seem to blend quite naturally Into the landscape – like a painting – framed so beautifully by The Pitons – bougainvillea – vast expanse of sea and sky.
From Soufriere the road winds steeply – door is open in the wall And there’s Vanessa and Aretha with a welcome for us all It’s oh so hot – but going down stone steps – a rush of cooler air And I stop – exclaim! – and catch my breath and simply stand and stare …..
Gleaming dark wood floor – white panelling – the deck stretched out ahead Wrought iron railings – strong yet delicate – (a draped four poster bed Simply dwarfed by the proportions) – big deep sofas – Chinese lights Lovely paintings on the walls and so much space and blues and whites.
At the far end there’s a hammock – graceful – swaying with the trees White muslin curtains – tied to railings – billow softly in the breeze And veil the swimming pool – blue water lapping – open to the sky Where on soft sunbed you can dream and watch a passing butterfly Or the tiny vivid humming birds that dart and swoop and drink From the flowers of bougainvillea – red and orange – purple – pink….
That first evening it was good to see Elizabeth and Ray And for seven whole days the six of us could snorkel, feast and play And swim and read and drink rum punch and grapefruit juice with ice And sunbathe to our heart’s content. Quite simply – Paradise!
On the lower deck our bedrooms and our bathrooms were a dream Four poster beds, fresh sheets and towels and flowers – Valinda heads the team Making sure that we are happy and that everything’s alright And all four of them apparently enjoying our delight!
I shall not forget the magic of – Villa La Bagatelle And all those lovely smiling people who looked after us so well And how we lucky ’hangers on’ were made so welcome – had such fun And how beautiful it was – so thank you – thank you – EVERYONE!

Very Family Friendly

There are a lot of words on fantastic views already. Here I want to address our experience that may be helpful for future guests. This villa is very family friendly. 1) the rooms have one king, one queen and one twin beds. Perfect for family of four or five; 2) tennis court, on-site pool and large open space provide a lot of activities for our family; 3) close to many attractive locations on island: anse chastanet beach (10 mins drive) for snorkeling, anse mamin beach (10 mins drive + 10 mins walk), sulpher spring, diamond falls/botanical garden (12 mins drive); Pitons and sugar beach (15 mins drive), and snorkeling/whale watch/sunset cruises at Soufriere (10 mins drive). Saw some guests complained the rough/steep road. First time, yes. But it's not that bad after that. The road condition is different from the States' but we drove on steeper hills in some European counties. As long as you are not nervous, you will be fine.

Amazing experience

The villa is amazing, especially for a honeymoon! The view was more than perfect and the whole open house concept is great to enjoy the environment. Unfortunately the bad side of it is the neighbors! Just cross your fingers to not have people having a party next door! But our experience was magical, especially the sunsets. Valinda, the house attendant was great, very discreet and her food was very good! We really enjoyed having our private house and discovering the wonderful island of St Lucia. Special thanks to Tania who took care of all the reservations for us. Everything went smoothly and we didn't have to worry for anything. Thanks to all of that, our honeymoon was the best week of our life!

Incredible setting and accomodations for a memorable family holiday.

Beautiful house perched on the hills overlooking the Soufriere Bay and opposite the magnificent Pitons. Staff very satisfactory. Recommended nature guide (Murray) was a true jewel. The drive up and down the hill was an adventure in itself. The tennis court was a wonderful activity to have available. An embarrassment of choices in terms of activities - trekking to the top of Gros Piton, Sulphur Springs, guided nature trails.

Excellent week long Anniversary Stay for us!

This villa far exceeded our expectations! We enjoyed the nearby amenities ranging from hiking the Gros Piton, the local grocery store in town, nearby beaches and resorts to snorkel and dine. Overall, it simply could not have been any better. The villa itself was most accommodating, very relaxing and first class!

Amazing Villa and staff!

We just returned from St. Lucia & La Bagatelle. A beautiful and tranquil retreat! We had the car service pick us up at the airport, which I highly recommend; the roads are very steep and filled with hair pin curves. The villa was more beautiful than the photos can convey. The caretakers, Valinda and Paul were super friendly and we did not feel awkward with them around at all. Valinda cooked us a curry chicken dinner which even my picky teen girls loved. We took a day trip to visit local attractions and used a local taxi driver, Popo. He was very informative, pointing out different plants, explaining island history, and letting us stop to take photos. A true gentleman. It was our first visit to St. Lucia and so memorable. La Bagatelle was perfect in every way. The pool, the antiques, open air living; breath taking ! Apart from our day trip with Popo and one day at Anse Chastanet Beach we were at the Villa, no need to leave. We hope to return to La Bagatelle & St. Lucia

La Bagatelle

Everything is just as advertised. The view, furnishings and atmosphere are beautiful. The staff is wonderful. The road up to the villa is very difficult to walk or drive, and may limit some people's ability to come and go from the villa. We were told that the Anse Chastenet resort would sell us a usage pass (@$140/week). This would allow you to use the beach, lounge chairs, boats, rainforest trails, etc. The road to Anse Chastenet is less difficult - so this is highly recommended.

Beautiful and enchanting vacation!

So many times you go on vacation and the pictures in the advertisement do not at all resemble what the place actually looks like. Well, La Bagatelle is exactly what the pictures show - an absolutely enchanting, open air villa that overlooks the sea. The trade winds sweep across during the evening - lulling you to sleep. Valinda and Paul took great care of us. The house and pool were cleaned daily, shopping was done, meals were
